Tell us about your book: Young Verity accompanies her father, a renowned Egyptologist, to Egypt to locate Nefertiti’s tomb for the British Museum. Eager to learn more about the heritage of her late mother, Verity is gifted a scarab bracelet by a stranger while exploring the market. Years later, with no signs of Nefertiti’s final resting place, funding has dried up and strange events seem to have followed Verity wherever she goes—including nightmares and—murder!
What was the inspiration for this book? I've always been fascinated by ancient Egypt. I was particularly intrigued by a woman named Dorothy Eady, a British woman who believed she was the reincarnation of an Egyptian priestess. That, combined with the fact that Nefertiti was such an important woman in Egyptian history, yet her tomb has never been found, inspired me to write this story of Verity.
What is one thing you would like the reader to know about your book? I really enjoy visceral, unexpected endings like Daphne du Maurier's books, so I kind of experimented with that in Verity Easton. Reader, be warned! Also, there is a crossover character from my debut murder mystery novel, Hattie Vavaseur. They're standalone novels, but it makes just a teeny bit more sense if you've read Hattie's story.
Was there anything special about writing this book that you would like to mention? I did a ton of research for this book and interwove many true elements from Egyptian history.
A unique fact about you: I love and adore classic literature, particularly British literature, which I studied in college. If you enjoy the classics, my writing sort of mimics that style.
